Turnstiles explained: swing, tripod, flap, full-height or optical?

Throughput, security level and accessibility decide which entrance control fits your lobby, gate or campus.
Entrance control is a trade-off between speed, security and accessibility. ZKTeco makes all five main types; here is how they compare.
- Swing barrier (e.g. Comet Series): sleek glass wings, lanes up to 900 mm for wheelchairs and deliveries; around 30 people per minute by card or QR.
- Tripod (e.g. Saturn-T1000 Pro): robust and economical for factories and schools; the arm drops automatically in an emergency.
- Flap barrier (e.g. FBL6000 Pro): fast, up to 30 people per minute, with multiple infrared sensors and anti-pinch protection.
- Full height (e.g. FHT3300/3400): the highest security for perimeters and unmanned gates, with anti-tailgating.
- Optical (e.g. OP1000): barrier-free infrared beams for executive lobbies where an alarm is enough.
Every turnstile pairs with face, fingerprint, RFID or QR readers, and with visitor management in ZKBio CVSecurity. We will recommend a configuration after a site survey.
